March 14
Early Spring Benefit. WCM’s annual musical soiree to benefit the Artist Coaching Project work with the Sullivan County public school music students is at 4 pm set to a backdrop overlooking the city lights of Manhattan and New York Harbor at a private home in Brooklyn.

For the first time at this spring event, we have the harpsichordist Kenneth Hamrick performing on and talking about his beautiful instrument — a 1990 Earl Russell replica of the French 1764 Blanchet-Taskin double manual harpsichord. The orginal instrument is in the famous Edinburgh Collection of Historical Keyboard Instruments in Scotland. An imaginative performer, musicologist and committed teacher, Ken has added enormously to WCM’s work since he joined us in 2000. Flutist Judith Pearce joins Ken in this program of music by Vivaldi, Bach, Telemann & Mozart. Click here to see the complete program.

Please join us for this very special concert in Brooklyn, and meet the musicians afterwards at the delicious buffet and wine reception. Reservations are required for this important fundraiser, and the suggested minimum donation is $75 per person.

Seating is limited so please call today! To reserve a seat and get directions, call 718-638-8962.

March 21
“BOLD BAROQUE – Secrets from a Musical Volcano!” launches the Weekend of Chamber Music’s 17th season in the Catskills at 2:30 pm at Hortonville Presbyterian Church on Hankins Road.

As the title suggests, WCM’s first concert focuses on music of the period that represents “a bold new direction in contemporary Baroque music.” Jean-Féry Rebel's "Chaos," for example, is the striking first movement from his last work, the ballet suite “Les Elémens.” Aware of the shocking sound of the work for the time, the composer wrote his own explanatory program notes, cautioning listeners that “I hazarded to make heard first all sound together or rather all of the notes of the octave united as a single sound.”

The program also features avant-garde pieces of the period by Bach, Vivaldi, Telemann and Haydn, performed by harpsichordist Kenneth Hamrick, flutist Judith Pearce, violinist José Pietri–Coimbre and cellist Nina Lee. Click here for complete concert details.

Reservations are not necessary. Tickets are $20 at the door; cash or check only please. Admission is free for students 18 and under. Handicapped access at the church is through the rear door, and directions are available here.

The benefit for our work in area public schools offers music by Schubert, Chopin Beethoven & Ibert. Perfomers are flutist Judith Pearce, baritone Anthony Turner, bassoonist Leonard Hindell, and Kenneth Hamrick on the pianoforte. For concert details, click here.

New this year are the artists' pre-concert talks an hour before each Saturday concert, and WCM's appearance at the beautifully restored The Old North Branch Inn.
