WJFF Radio Catskill and Weekend of Chamber Music Invite You to a Benefit Gala Affair

The Weekend of Chamber Music artists in performance for the joint benefit are pianist Marija Stroke, oboist Matt Sullivan, violinist Sunghae Anna Lim and flutist Judith Pearce.

Interactive Festival workshop featuring Maw’s “Roman Canticle” for baritone, with a talk by the composer. Lyrics are from Robert Browning’s poem, “Two in the Campagna.”

Music for flute, string trio & harpsichord: Rameau, Couperin, Mozart & Maw, followed by a reception with the composer & the artists.

May 7 – Spring Concert, 7:30 pm

MHS ninth to 12th graders and their Weekend of Chamber Music artist coaches perform at the Monticello High School, 39 Breakey Ave. Student ensembles, Las Chicas, One Foot Up, Bass-ically Perfect, Fiddlin’ Chicks, Creatures, Guitar Boys, and the Brass Boys, offer jazz, Mozart, Holst, Grieg, Rossini, folk and more. Their musical mentors - flutist Judith Pearce, cellist Alberto Parrini, pianist Marija Stroke, violinist Anna Lim and oboist Matt Sullivan perform a Haydn trio and other works. Tickets are $10; $5 for music parents and senior citizens, free for students under 18. For information, call 845-932-8414 or 845-932-8527.

June 11 - Early Summer Benefit: Music in the Barn


A scenic hillside and the setting sun provide the backdrop at 6 pm June 11 for Weekend of Chamber Music's annual benefit in Sullivan County. Hosted by WCM patrons at their private country home in Bethel, an al fresco banquet buffet, wine and dessert will be served and guests will gather in the restored barn for an intimate performance of chamber music for harpsichord, soprano, cello and flutes, after supper. Soprano Szilvia Schranz, harpsichordist Kenneth Hamrick, flutists Judith Pearce & Immanuel Davis, and cellist Käthe Jarka will play music by Rameau, Roussel, Bach and Rossini. Reservations are required for the event. Admission is $50 per person, and funds raised will help support the non-profit organization’s coaching work with Sullivan County high school youth in their chamber music and band programs, and WCM’s Memory Project,© a community-wide partnership between WCM, the Liberty Museum and Arts Center and county high schools.
