The Weekend of Chamber Music seeks to present chamber music as a vital art to a broad cross section of the Sullivan County, NY community and beyond, reaching out to engage people of all ages and cultures. Colorful programming designed to stimulate the listeners’ imaginations; a focus on high quality performance, a wide range of instrumentation, and lively communication with the audience through the spoken word, are features of every concert, workshop, coaching activity and collaboration with the community at-large. About the Weekend of Chamber Music
When flutist Judith Pearce and a few of her friends set out in rural New York to play a concert just for fun one summer weekend in 1994, they planted a seed that would eventually become a successful non-profit music organization, the Weekend of Chamber Music. After that first performance at the Meat Market in Lake Huntington, the ensemble of professional musicians with world-class performing and teaching careers found themselves traveling throughout Sullivan County every summer, performing more concerts to growing audiences at many unusual venues. Accessibility note: Our Summer Festival concerts are in a restored barn at the Eddie Adams Farm, a beautiful private homestead in a rural area. Parking is a short hike along a mown path across a rolling, grassy field. Please wear appropriate shoes. Patrons who are unable to walk to the barn will be assisted by WCM volunteers, who will provide valet parking. There is also a wheelchair ramp into the barn at the back. Please arrive early and call ahead if you have questions or need assistance. Thank you for your cooperation.
