WCM Continues Working in Schools and Museum
WCM’s work in Sullivan County schools is in full swing for the 2004-2005 school year, with the organization’s Band and Chamber Music Coaching Projects. Trish Ellmauer’s students at Sullivan West Middle School in Jeffersonville, and Ann Trombley and Nancy Wegrzyn’s chamber music classes at Monticello High School, are participating this year.
Meanwhile, the skein of local history continues to be untangled and rewoven in Part III of “The Memory Project,” a collaboration among two generations, WCM, and the Liberty Museum and Arts Center (LMAC). Michele Clark’s tenth grade classes at Liberty High School are participating by interviewing elderly area residents about their recollection of times past in Sullivan County. The students will use their discoveries to create articles and poems set to music and performance with the help of WCM artists. “The Memory Project” Part I featured the creations of Sullivan West students in 2001-02 , and Livingston Manor students participated last year, in Part II.
WCM is also plans to participate in LMAC’s 2004 Christmas festivities. A holiday concert is on the drawing board, featuring harpsichordist Kenneth Hamrick, for the first weekend of December. Stay tuned for details!
