Livingston Manor History to be Evoked in Songs and Photos

"The Memory Project," a multifaceted collaborative exploration of regional history successfully launched by The Weekend of Chamber Music two years ago in Narrowsburg, has now been extended in Livingston Manor. The results, "Days Gone By," will be presented in a concert framed by an exhibit at the Liberty Museum and Arts Center at 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 6th.

Students of Nicole Schmidt's Creative Expression class at Livingston Manor Central School interviewed elderly residents about life in Livingston Manor in the 1930s. The students then transmuted their understanding and impressions of their grandparents' time into essays and poems, which are in turn being provided musical settings by three Weekend of Chamber Music musicians, singer Annie Hat, flutist Judith Pearce, and guitarist William Anderson. Their performance of the resulting cameos will take place amid photographs the students took where they found them to be relevant to their discoveries. The entire event will be celebrated at a closing dessert reception.

Tickets may be obtained at the door for $5, under 18 free. The LMAC is on Main Street in Liberty, New York. The phone number is 845.292.2394.

This phase of "The Memory Project" is funded in part by a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts Museum Program.
